Ted D. Sauls, Sr, 65, went home to his Heavenly Father Wednesday morning, April 4, 2018. A native and lifetime resident of Greene County, he was born May 24, 1952, the son of Ned D. and Nell Fields Sauls. Ted served two terms as Sheriff of Greene County and while Sheriff, served as a Board Member of the NC Sheriff’s Training and Standards Commission; after leaving office in Greene County he assumed a position with the Commission as Deputy Director. Upon his retirement, Ted was awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine in recognition of his service to North Carolina and its citizens. Following retirement, he dedicated his time to his family and service to the Lord. Ted was an active member of Free Gospel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.
Ted is survived by his wife of 38 years, Martha J. Sauls of the home; his son, Ted D. Sauls, Jr. and wife, Paula of Snow Hill; his son, Jason W. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening April 7th from 6 – 8 PM at the Free Gospel PFWB Family Life Center and other times at the Sauls residence. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Shine Fire Department, 84 Shine Road, Snow Hill, NC 28580.
