Mrs. Clara Joyce Sugg Murphy, 83, died Sunday, November 19, 2017. A native of Greene County she was born August 9, 1934, the daughter of John Edward Sugg Jr. and Minnie Mae Beaman Sugg. Joyce prided herself as a wife, mother and grandmother, always ensuring her family’s needs met with love and devotion. Cherishing her role as homemaker, she loved to work in her yard and flower gardens, shared her talent as a great cook, and extended a helping hand to others in need. Joyce was a member of Free Union Original Free Will Baptist Church.
Her surviving family includes her husband of almost 65 years, John Richard Murphy, Jr; daughters, LouAnn Murphy Parker and husband, Randy of Henderson, Vanessa Murphy Hardy and husband, Mike of Snow Hill; sons, John Richard Murphy III and wife, Kay, and James Fredrick Murphy and wife, Mollie, all of Snow Hill; grandchildren, Ryan Murphy and wife, Bobbie, Christi Murphy Johnson and husband, Shea, Colby Murphy, Katelyn Hardy and fiancé Ben Rouse, and West Hardy; and great-granddaughters, Addison Johnson and Ellie Murphy; and half-brother, John Edward Sugg, III. Additionally, a devoted friend and caregiver, Doris Hall, and many special cousins.
Graveside Services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday November 22, 2017, at the Snow Hill Cemetery with the Reverend Stephen Prescott officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00- 8:00 PM Tuesday at Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service and other times at the family residence. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be directed to Free Union OFWB Church, 2573 Fire Tower Road, Walstonburg, NC, 27888. Online condolences at www.taylor-tyson.com.

Dear Richard, So shocked and sorry to hear of Joyce's sickness and passing this morning!
