On Thursday, May 10, 2018, Andrew Edgerton Lasitter, loving husband, father, brother, uncle, passed away at age 59 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Andrew was born on November 27, 1958 in Kinston, NC to Mark C. Lasitter, Jr. and Elizabeth Lee (Turner) Peacock. He was the youngest of three children and grew up in Snow Hill, NC until his father's passing when he was 14. He and his mother moved to Morehead City where the family loved to spend their summers making memories at the beach. Andrew learned to surf when he was 8 years old and surfed until his knees would no longer allow. Surfing was his passion for almost 50 years. After high school Andrew attended Mt. Olive College and then moved to New Bedford, Mass. where he attended Berkley School of Music and worked in the food and beverage industry. The New England area was Andrew’s favorite surfing spot and he made many wonderful friends there whom he mentored and rode the bigger waves showing them how it was done. It was while living in the New England area that he became a huge Patriots fan. In 2002 Andrew and his son Nathan moved back to North Carolina to be close to his sister Debbie and her family but he remained a Patriots fan.
In April of 2002 Andrew met the love of his life, Carol. It was love at first sight for both of them. From that day forward they were like peas and carrots, they just went together. They spent every moment of every day loving each other to the fullest. If you saw Andrew, you saw Carol. If you saw Carol, you saw Andrew. They were best friends. Together they built a successful online business on Etsy selling coastal décor. Andrew grew the business and one of his proudest accomplishments was the trademarking of their Shelling Life brand selling, t-shirts, hats and decals. Andrew, Carol and their dog Shelly loved boating and going to Shackleford Banks and Cape Lookout grabbing all the beautiful shells before everyone else got there.
Andrew was one of the most positive persons you could ever meet and would always encourage others to let go of the negative and focus on the positive and his sister said one of the most stubborn. Andrew was always calm and could talk any sales person into giving him multiple discounts. He had a way with organizing everything and also read every owner’s manual he owned from cover to cover.
Andrew is preceded in death by his father, Mark C. Lasitter, Jr. and mother, Elizabeth Lee (Betsy Turner) Peacock. He is survived by his loving wife, Carol; his son, Nathan; sister, Debbie Little, her husband, Darryl; brother, Charles Lasitter, his wife, Charlotte; best friend, Andy Elmore; stepbrothers, John, Bobby, Billy; stepsisters, Sarah and Christy; mother and father in-law, Dorothy & Alfred Morris; brother in-law, Al & Kim Morris; nephews, Jonathan, Thomas, Al; and nieces, Lauren, Haley, and Robin.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 20, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Millbrook United Methodist Church, 1712 East Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC 27609. Family and friends will hold a celebration of Andrew's life at the home afterwards.
Andrew’s ashes will be interred at the Snow Hill Cemetery at a later time to be announced.

Celebrating the life of Andrew E. Lasitter
Thank you for signing Andrew E. Lasitter's Guestbook
Just to tell ya how much times have changed, me and Andrew and another guy got caught matching pennies in the 7th grade . Principal Jones gave all three of us 5 spankings with his paddle. I will never forget that as long as I live. Don't think we ever got into any more trouble after that. He was a good friend and had always wondered where he went after he left school. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
