Jimmy C. Hodges, Sr.



Mr. Jimmy Charles Hodges, Sr, 72, died Tuesday afternoon, October 31, 2017. Born July 18, 1946 in Pitt County, he was the son of Clarence and Ruby Boyd Hodges. A roofer by profession, he specialized in metal roofing installations and in his spare time enjoyed making crafts and birdhouses. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Mr. Hodges enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Lou Hodges Griffin; and his wife earlier this year, Thelma Lou Sugg Hodges.

Surviving are his daughter, Teresa Hodges Riveria of Grifton; sons, Jimmy Charles Hodges, Jr and wife, Amy of Hookerton, and William Ray “Bill” Hodges and companion, Kenneth Hodges of Grifton; sisters, Jean Avery and husband, Louis of Greenville, Jane Avery and husband, Billy of Chocowinity, Janice Mosley and husband, James of Dallas, TX, Joyce Warren and husband, Earl of Stokes, and Faye Stainback and husband, Bobby of Ayden; brothers, Jesse Ray Hodges and wife, Bettie Lou of Snow Hill and Bobby Earl Hodges and wife, Hilda of Greenville; 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 2 special fur babies.

Graveside services will be held 11 AM Saturday at the Snow Hill Cemetery. In keeping with Mr. Hodges style, casual attire is welcome and encouraged.
