Mrs. Kassie Keener Stevens, age 68, passed away Sunday morning, June 3, 2018, following a courageous battle with cancer.
A native of Onslow County, she was born July 26, 1949, the daughter of Melvin V. Keener and Dorothy Marie Richards Keener. Following graduation from Jacksonville Senior High School, she attended Coastal Carolina Community College earning her degree as a Dental Assistant. Together with her husband, George, they made Lenoir County their home and Kassie began a career as a dental assistant with Dr. Beasley in Kinston. Upon moving to Greene County, Kassie worked with Dr. Cheryl Carraway before joining the NC Department of Corrections as a Dental Assistant until her retirement.
Kassie is survived by her husband, George Stevens of Snow Hill; daughter, Angela Stevens Taylor and husband, D.J. of Greenville; a son, Erik Stevens of Hookerton; a granddaughter, Kassy Reese Taylor; and sisters, Barbara Carson of Youngsville and Mary Clinard of Charlotte.
A service of remembrance will be held graveside 11 AM Thursday, June 7, at the Snow Hill Cemetery with Reverend Steven Gay officiating.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6 – 8 PM at Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service and also immediately following the service on Thursday at the cemetery. Condolences at www.taylor-tyson.com
